ARMSTRONG HERITAGE FARM

a living history museum

'drawing of original farm'

The inspiration for the Armstrong Heritage Farm came many years ago when Grant Armstrong, donated 50 acres of land to the Municipality of Shawville. Mr. Armstrong is a direct descendant of Samuel Armstrong - the first brickmaker in Shawville. 'The Farm' is a living history museum depicting life in Pontiac County circa 1890-1920.

In 2002 a small group of interested citizens joined together to form the steering committee. April 2003 the 'Founding Meeting' was held.

IMAGINE yourself swept back in history to when pioneers settled in the Pontiac, forging new communities, and beginning new lives with back-breaking work and sacrifice.

IMAGINE visiting a village where people farm, build homes, stores, churches, schools and perform day to day chores before modern-day conveniences.

IMAGINE what it was like to work in the clay in order to make brick to build these homes and schools and churches.

IMAGINE having the opportunity to experience this unique way of life in the

Armstrong Heritage Farm.

Come visit and see everyday working life i.e. farming, blacksmithing, baking. Hop on the train and take a trip back in time.

'Thank-you' to Michael Neelin for permission to use his wonderful 'drawing of the original farm'.
